Where a person is convicted of an offence under the Heritage Places Act, the Environment Resources and Development Court may, in addition to imposing a penalty for the offence, order the person to make good any damage caused as a consequence of the offence. To further deter people from breaching stop orders or damaging heritage places, the court can, in addition, order that no development of the place be undertaken during a period up to ten years, except for the purposes of making good any damage previously caused.
