Federal Employment & Industrial Relations Law (most workers in Australia)

The Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) generally applies to national system employers and their employees in Australia. In South Australia this is all employees apart from state public servants and local government employees. However there are a few provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), namely unpaid parental leave and related entitlements, notice of termination and unlawful termination, which cover all employees in Australia [ss 744, 759 and 772].

The Fair Work Commission and the Fair Work Ombudsmanmanage the national system.
