Bargaining agents

Employees may appoint (in writing) a union or union representative or some other person (perhaps a lawyer or a trusted friend) to represent their interests during the negotiation of an AWA. Parties are prohibited from refusing to recognise the other party's nominated bargaining agents unless they have not been given a copy of the bargaining agent's instrument of appointment before their refusal to recognise them. It is also prohibited to coerce or attempt to coerce the other party to appoint or not to appoint a particular person as an authorised bargaining agent, or to terminate the appointment of an authorised bargaining agent.
