A person who discharges a firearm intending to hit a police officer or being reckless as to whether a police officer is hit is guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: 10 years imprisonment

Where the conduct causes serious harm the maximum penalty is 25 years imprisonment (or more on application by the Director of Public Prosecutions) [Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 (SA) s 29A(1)(b) - (2)].
